Although the construction date of the Ice House is unknown at this time, we know that it was located below the Carpenter’s Shop in the complex that also contained the Coal Tipple and The Barn (see map).
According to several known photos, the building was of frame construction and modest size (see photo). Its purpose was to provide ice for the many “ice boxes” in town, and it served the community until 1928-29, at which time it was demolished.
